DESCRIPTION:Ever wanted to try BMX biking or Mountain Biking? Bring the family out to Shawnee Park to learn safe biking instruction and how to ride on the Pump Bike Track! Multiple size varieties of Tony Hawk bikes and helmets will be provided. Prior experience of riding a bike is advised to participate. Participants will first get to practice on an obstacle course to build maneuvering skills\, and if ready\, can progress to the Pump Track loop with supervision from instructors. Feel free to attend all 3 sessions to build up your skills!  \nProgram Meets at the Shawnee Park Pump Track near the ECHO office. \nAges: Ages 6 and up for the obstacle course and ages 8 and up for the pump track. DESCRIPTION:Join us for fall color and outdoor fun at Jefferson Memorial Forest during the Forest Adventure Campout\, presented by Wilderness Louisville on Saturday\, October 19th\, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Explore the forest\, show off your costume\, and sleep under the stars! Activities include archery\, guided hikes\, a climbing wall\, pumpkin decorating\, hayrides\, and more! This event is free and open to the public. There will be a food truck and West Sixth on site. Families are encouraged to pitch a tent and stay overnight. $25 will reserve one of the Forest’s family campsites and for $15\, campers can set up in the field in the Horine Reservation.\nThis year\, Forest Adventure Campout will serve as an outdoor gear donation site. Have gently used gear you no longer need? Donate at the event and receive a free program voucher for a JMF program.\nGear Donation Guidelines\n• As a general rule\, only donate items that you would give to a close friend or family member.\n• Items must be in good condition and functioning properly (working zippers\, no dog or cat hair\, clean and no holes or tears — check pockets).\n• We do not accept any team/ball sports or motorized sports equipment or “everyday” clothing (like sweatpants\, leggings\, and hoodies) \nWe accept:\n• Outdoor Clothing for Kids and Adults: Rain jackets\, snow coats\, hiking pants\, thermal layers\, flannels\, hiking gloves\, socks\, sun/rain/winter hats; all-season outdoor branded clothing\n• Outdoor Footwear: Hiking boots\, climbing shoes\, trail running shoes\, snow boots\n• Camping Gear: Tents\, sleeping bags\, sleeping pads\, hiking packs\, headlamps\, camp stoves and cooking equipment (must be demonstrated in working condition)\n• Outdoor Gadgets/Accessories: sunglasses\, binoculars\, compasses\, pocketknives\, multi-tools\n• Fishing Gear: Waders\, poles\, vests\, etc.\n• Children’s Exploration Tools: hand lenses\, bug hotels\, etc.

DESCRIPTION:A spectacular day of Bluegrass music\, food and beverages\, craft vendors\, and youth activities in a scenic environment awaits those who visit Jefferson Memorial Forest’s 17th annual Forest Fest on Saturday\, May 18th. \nForest Fest has been known for providing a great variety of bluegrass music; this year’s event expands on that tradition with five musical acts in the lineup. The music starts at 12 p.m. in the forest’s Horine Reservation\, 12304 Holsclaw Hill Road. \nThe lineup starts off with The Montvales\, followed by Relaay\, Bibelhauser Brothers\, The Wheelhouse Rousters\, and Songs From The Road Band to round out the evening. \nThis event is all-ages\, rain or shine! Parking is $15\, cash only. Feel free to bring a blanket or chair\, but coolers and outside alcohol are prohibited. Food\, cocktails\, and beer will be available for purchase along with items from various local artists and crafters. Well-behaved\, leashed dogs are welcome\, and their owners are asked to be considerate of other patrons. \nThe event is made possible through the financial support of the Louisville Metro Council and presenting sponsor\, Councilman Dan Seum (District 13)\, in whose district Jefferson Memorial Forest is located. Also sponsoring the event are: WFPK Radio Louisville\, West Sixth\, and Castle & Key Distillery. \nA variety of entertainment options for children\, including nature play activities\, will take place during the day\, beginning at noon and ending at 5 p.m.  Artists from across the region will demonstrate their skills as part of a craft fair\, musical workshops will be available from Louisville Folk School with band members\, and food and beverages from Red Top Gourmet Hot Dogs\, Doots Yummery\, The Corn Place\, Castle & Key\, West Sixth\, and Kawaii Candy Cart will be available for sale. \nForest Fest Schedule of Activities\n11:30 a.m.\nBooths and area open to the public \n12:00 p.m. \nFood areas open\nForest Nature play open for children\nMusic begins \n12:00-5:00 p.m. \nKids activities\, climbing wall\, music workshops \n7:00 p.m.\nForest Fest concludes
